Roll Coating (Direct and Reverse)

Picture
Roll coating is the process of applying a coating to a flat substrate by passing it between rollers. Paint is applied by one or more auxiliary rolls onto an application roll, which rolls across the conveyed flat work. After curing, the coated substrate is then shaped or formed into the final shape without damaging the coating.

Roll coating is divided into two types: direct and reverse roll coating. In direct roll coating, the applicator roll rotates in the same direction as the substrate moves. In reverse roll coating, metal feed stock is fed between the rolls as a continuous coil. The applicator roll rotates in the opposite direction of the substrate.

Roll coating is limited to flatwork and is extremely viscosity-dependent. Physical properties should be checked often to ensure results of postforming. These tests should include adhesion, impact resistance, flexibility, and hardness. We have a variety of colors and textures available to meet your panel needs.  Call us today for the wood grain painted pattern to showcase your rustic project.
